Originally born in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Bishop completed his undergraduate studies at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He went on to attend medical school at the University of Missouri, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1990. He then went on to complete his surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals in Birmingham, Alabama.
As an active member of the medical community, Dr. Bishop maintains professional affiliations with several organizations, including the Georgia Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Georgia Neurosurgical Society, and American Association of Pain Medicine. He has also contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and engineered patented devices and systems used in spine surgery.
